Batman Begins
Just got back from seeing it tonight (Thursday).
I never blogged it before now because as far as comics characters go, Batman (and DC Comics in general) just isn't on my radar. Marvel seems, to me, to be where most of the super-hero comics innovation is these days.
Having said that, HOLY SHIT this was great. I heard it was good too, but I didn't think they would totally blow me away like that. Not a single person miscast, and every single relationship between each character hit all the right notes.
I now consider Bale to be the definitive film Batman. Michael Caine and Gary Oldman may also be the first actors to really capture Alfred and Gordon, too. A wonderful super-hero movie as well as a damn good drama. I will see this in the theater again.
Why did it take them five movies to get Batman right?

If anyone discusses the movie here, no spoilers, please. I will edit posts that give away plot details. Thanks.
I concur, best Batman movie ever! Especially the part where Batman... hehe, just kidding, won't tell a thing :)
Gary Oldman is Gordon! YAY! He's my favorite actor!
You didn't like the first or second, the Keaton/Burton ones? I mean, the second of those is kinda out crazy, but they've really got the comic-book-world flavour to them. As opposed to the over-hyped trash flavour of the next couple.
I can't wait to see this new one.
Watch the first two again and you'll see that they're cheesy as hell.
When making a comic book movie you don't have to port it exactly because most of the time the original comics had stories dumbed down to appeal to kids and sometimes absurd as hell.
The Keaton/Burton flicks are okay. There's nothing in them that really offends me like the Schumacher movies, but Batman Begins is the first movie that is actually about Batman.
When you see this new one, I'll bet that you'll view the Burton movies in different light. I thought that Batman Begins combined the mythological feel of the first Superman movie with the character drama of the Spider-Man movies.
I agree, the Burton films still suffered from the villain being more interesting than the hero, with batman being a guy in a cape that brings down the villain. Not a character per se, but sorta . . . around.
Even so, they were worlds apart from the schumacher excrement. . . I mean . . uhm . . experiment.
I still haven't seen Batman and Robin. It and my eyes. Never the twain shall meet ! I saw a preview. I saw what they did to Bane. I saw enough.
This movie, which I'll be seeing tomorrow, holds all the keys to my batman enthused heart !
this was the movie...screw the other ones combined...One of the best comic movies ever. as john lee said

so true so true...I hope they can follow up with one just as good.
Batman Begins was good expect for Katie Holmes - I mean, come on...SHE's supposed to be an assistant DA that's taking on Gotham's underbelly?
Don't worry, supposedly she won't be back for the sequel because her 'relationship' (note quotes) with Tom Cruise is bigger news than the movie. Oh well.
I will gladly pay for ElMacho's flight (and future honeymoon) expenses if he will fly out to LA and beat the crap out of that smarmy little midget.
My predictions:
1) The 'TomKat' 'relationship' will be over by the time War of the Worlds makes it to home DVD, leaving the door open for ElMacho's advances.
2) Within a year, Katie Holmes will be greeted by bemused shoppers at her local grocery store with, 'Didn't you used to be...?'
I saw the movie on the imax dome screen. Her nipples were the size of goodyear tires.
