Local Flavor
I received an email from a fan overseas who was surprised to learn that Heine Brothers (the coffee house frequented by the Suburban Tribe cast) is real.
Actually, many of the locations the characters frequent are real. (Except Yesman & Puckerup, of course.) Here are the websites of Alan and co.'s favorite eateries and hangouts. The next time you're in Louisville KY, USA, drop by and tell them I sent you:
Heine Brothers Coffee - 5 locations in the city compared to, say, 10+ or so Starbucks stores. But the coffee is so much better.
Clifton's Pizza Co. - The best pizza on earth, he said, without hyperbole.
The Irish Rover - Local Irish pub that is so authentic and popular, there's a standing-room only wait to get a table or a seat at the bar every weekend.

10 Comments:
Heine is good stuff. I grab some whenever I'm in Louisville.

I think Wick's or Za's has better pizza. There are so many frickin' pizza places in Louisville.
Wick's & Za's don't suck by any means, but I prefer Clifton's. Points to Za's for carrying Young's Double Chocolate Stout.
And you say "There are so many frickin' pizza places in Louisville" as if it were a bad thing. :(
No doubt about it, Wick's and Za's are both better than Clifton's when it comes to their pies. Although, I'll take Clifton's over Bearno's anyday. I just don't know what happened to Bearno's, but it hasn't been the same since they franchised out. I still enjoy other items on their menu just not the pie.

I have only been to Za's to drink, never actually had a pizza there. I would put Wick's on the same level as Clifton's, if only their stores were not overrun with Bardstown Road Hipsters.
Come on now. Wick's isn't overrun with the hipsters. You get that at Cahoots. Wick's is overrun by the frat boys from UofL. At least it was the last time I was actually there to hang out. Besides, if you go there during the normal dining hours, the frat boys aren't out yet. Not that there's anything wrong with being a frat boy.

I prefer the Wick's on Goose Creek. Za's is one of the best beer menus in the city(Youngs dbl choc stout!!)and the BBQ chicken pizza on whole wheat crust is amazing. Never been to Cliftons

I think we should have a Louisville-area ST fan club outing at... Clifton's.
I wasn't saying so many pizza places are bad...it's just hard to choose sometimes. Oh, and anyone like Queenies or Impelliazeri's(spelling probl'y wrong)?
I used to live on Mt. Holly and I could just walk to Cliftons.
Is Impellazeri's open again? Last time I drove past it (Bardstown Rd location) it was closed up. I don't consider the Shelbyville Rd location Impellazeri's pizza because it was so poor compared to the original location. That was the best pizza in town for a long time. I could only put away one or two pieces of their pie it was so big.
