Suburban Tribe

Your Eyes Do Not Deceive You.

That is a Suburban Tribe strip up there.

This is the first page of a Suburban Tribe story that will run in a print anthology next summer. It is a flashback story that takes place in between the end of the very first ST story arc and the beginning of the second one. No Jessica, no Haley, no McWhiskey.

These strips are going to look a little different. I want to freshen up the look of the characters and compose the comics as actual comic book pages rather than strips - complete with more backgrounds and more dynamic compositions. (please no cracks about today's comic being a talking head against a gradient. I'm referencing this guy.) Web comics finally seem as if they are starting to gel somewhat, and I think artists that want to be taken seriously are going to have to step up their game a little bit.

I am not sure of the exact update schedule, but I am shooting for 2 of these double-sized strips twice a week until this story is complete. However, when I set Nov. 19 as the start/return date, I didn't account for Thanksgiving this Thursday. I'll do my best, but it may be next Monday before the ball is really rolling on the updates.

Podcast at Last; Comics Still Returning on Nov. 19

My friend Bill (a.k.a Skip, a.k.a ElJefe) and I finally found time to record the podcast I promised back in August. It was meant to be a moratorium on the strip, but since the comic is coming back in less than two weeks, we had to mix things up a little.

It clocks in at 45 minutes long, and my editing is a little choppy, but give it a listen if you want to hear us chew the fat about Suburban Tribe, Ad agencies, suicidal Creative Directors, TV, video games, what comics are in our future and why reading books is so hard.
